About Diamond Bay
On Sorrento's wild back beaches, this sandstone-ringed bay offers rock ledges, overhangs, kelp beds, small walls and bommies that shelter crayfish, old wives, boarfish, abalone and schooling fish, with wrasse, catsharks, Port Jackson sharks and leatherjackets also recorded; visibility can change quickly with swell since the bottom is sandy, and the site is more sheltered than many other Mornington Peninsula back beach dives.
Access — entry & exit
Via shore down steep stairs from the car park. Eter from the side of the beach and swim towards either point. You'll find some bommies and kelp forest just before the point on the right-hand side — the direction usually taken. Access is about 130 m from the car park with the last 50 metres consisting of stairs and a walk across the soft sand of the beach.
